March 2nd-5th

This week, we will review the historical importance of the Year 1619 in American History as well as studying other influential factors in the creation of the Plymouth Plantation. We will also attempt to add the finishing touches on our North American topographical maps. During the Humanities block, the girls also practice Spencerian Penmanship. Many of them have mastered Principles 1, 2, and 3 and consequently are learning the analysis of letters. It is a wonderful discipline of the mind and hand. In our reading of "Robinson Crusoe", Crusoe has sailed home to England! I must admit that I will miss reading about his island adventures. In "Jane Eyre", the week's required reading came from chapters 19-21. These chapters are full of mystery in that Jane meets with a gypsy and then hears someone yelling for help in the middle of the night. Classics are such fun! On Thursday, our class along with Ms. Brown's class will be going to Dalworthington Gardens Park for Nature Study. I will have the girls observe and draw a bird to add to their Nature Journals. In Chemistry, the class is going to be studying polymers along with doing a very gooey lab! In Writing class, the girls have been reading the biography of Benjamin Franklin in preparation for writing their own biographies. In Bible, they are putting the finishing touches on their Rembrandt Picture Studies and will begin the study of Romans 7. In Latin, they played a game involving the vocabulary from chapters 6-11. I look forward to another wonderful week of learning! May God be with you, Mrs. Roy
