January 26th-29th

What a wonderful Grandparent's Day we had at the Flint Academy! The entire upper school participated in a spelling bee which was exciting for both the participants and audience members. I was so proud of my class as they did well in the competition. Jourdan Sargent won first place and Anna Teichroew won second place! Along with our spelling bee, each of the girls painted a small picture to give to their grandparents as a token of their love. The paintings were beautifully done. On Wednesday, our room mom and I took the girls on our "Survivor Day" field trip. Each student did well finding a shirt, pants and shoes that were within their budget so as to afford both their outfits and a modest lunch. It was such a rewarding experience for them. Our week was shorter than usual due to Martin Luther King, Jr. day however we were able to fit in a good measure of our studies. In Writing, the girls are tackling issues of the environment. In Bible, they have studied more of Paul's letter to the Romans as he shares that Abraham is the father of both the jews and gentiles. This week, the class will be reading President Obama's Inaugural Address. We will also continue knitting so as to complete our "Knit with Love" project. May your week be blessed by God-Mrs. Roy
