December 2008

Merry Christmas! We have had a busy and wonderful December. For starters, our classroom was transformed into a winter wonderland with christmas trees decorated with twinkling lights and dazzling ornaments. We enjoyed reading Dicken's "Christmas Carol" by the lights of the christmas trees as we sipped steaming cups of hot cocoa and apple cider. We followed the reading with a theatrical performance of the "Christmas Carol" at a Dallas theatre. For our Picture Study, we added a drawing of a cardinal to our Nature Study Notebooks. In the spirit of Christmas, we added a sprinkle of red glitter to our cardinals. For our Handicraft, we made beautiful and delicious gingerbread houses. For Music Study, our class learned about and listened to Handel's "Messiah". In Bible class, we watched the movie, "The Nativity Story", and read the story of Christ's birth from the book of Luke. We ended the semester with a luncheon at a local tearoom and a small shopping spree so as to have gifts for a gift exchange at our Christmas party. The joy of the season was felt by all! Mrs. Roy
