October 6-October 9

Thank you to all the parents and visitors that came to our Open House! It was great to see each of you and share information about how your daughter has been filling her school days. This week, the girls are studying election events from World magazine to prepare for a class debate on Thursday during our history period. Each student had to draw one candidate's name from a vase and then educate themselves on their candidate's viewpoints on the key issues of this year's election. What fun! We also made "earth apples" in our study of Behaim and Magellan. The girls covered red apples in caramel and blue and green sprinkles in an attempt to duplicate history's first globe. In reading Robinson Crusoe, the girls read an account of Crusoe's living quarters and then had to draw them as the text described. In Bible, they have studied the greeting portion of Paul's letter to the Romans(chapter 1:1-7). We defined vocabulary words such as grace and servant. The girls have been doing very well in their recitation work! Writing class has also been keeping them busy. They wrote about all the pros and cons of eating vegetables! The Lost Tools of Writing curriculum is a very useful tool in teaching them the art of writing-even if they have to discuss the cons of eating vegetables! Have a blessed week,

Mrs. Roy
