"The Blue Planet" |
The students in physical science class are studying the hydrosphere. They have learned all about the hydrologic cycle and applied their knowledge to an experiment involving condensation and evaporation. Next, the students focused their study on the earth's oceans. Using the same percentages of salt and freshwater found in our oceans, each student made one cupful of saltwater. Some of the students even tasted a little of the ocean water. Recently, the class used atlases to find different bodies of water found all over the globe and then researched an interesting fact about each of them.
This week, the students will read about water pollution. They will learn what causes water pollution and the short-term and long-term consequences of this type of pollution to our planet. Hopefully, this knowledge, partnered with awareness, will spur the students towards an understanding of the importance of the water on our blue planet. Mrs. Roy
